Wolff & Son (est 1796) - Royal Soveriegn came about as an attempt by the two companies to regain their retail markets. They had abandoned their retail markets during the war as the Allied Governments were buying pretty much everything they made!

The name Staedtler is closely linked with Nuremburg's pencil history. Long before J.S. Staedtler founded his pencil making factory in Nuremberg in 1835 his family had been handmaking pencils for generations. By 1840 the factory was making 63 different types of pencil. To this day Staedtler is considered one of the finest makers of artists pencils in Europe.
